Marcus Rashford, the footballer and defender of child poverty, is launching a book club to help more children discover the "escapism" of reading
Manchester United star has joined publisher Macmillan to promote reading and distribute books to underprivileged children through Book Club Marcus Rashford.
Rashford, 23, said: "I didn't start reading until I was 17 and that changed
completely my perspective and mentality. I just wanted the opportunity to really get more involved with reading as a child, but books were never something we could budget for as a family when we needed to put food on the table.
