The announcement is part of a "green industrial revolution" creating jobs

The sale of new cars and vans to petrol and diesel will be banned from 2030 and hybrid vehicles will be banned five years later, Boris Johnson will announce today

Diesel trucks will also be eliminated in an attempt to meet climate change targets. There will be a significant expansion of concessions for domestic energy improvements and new funding for nuclear and hydrogen power.

The 2030 ban on new combustion-engine cars was one of the main demands of the Times' campaign to reduce toxic emissions. The Clean Air for All campaign, launched 18 months ago, called for Britain to align itself with countries like Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands.
