Stratton's posting is part of a jolt planned by Johnson's communications director, Lee Cain
Former ITV journalist Allegra Stratton is to be announced as the face of Downing Street's new daily press conferences. She was a Guardian journalist before working for BBC Newsnight before becoming national editor of ITV news.
Stratton, who is currently advisor to Chancellor Rishi Sunak, will present daily briefings to political journalists. The role will make her a high-level spokesperson for Boris Johnson .
There are currently two daily lobbying briefings for political journalists, which are registered, but take place behind closed doors. One will be replaced by the new daily televised briefing, in significant turn. Downing Street and aims to significantly reduce the number of civil servants dealing with the press.
