This week the Home Office announced that travellers from Red List countries - which now go to 33 countries including Portugal and much of South America - will soon be subject to mandatory quarantine in hotels, although it is unclear when this will come into effect .
The Home Office's guidance states: "From 1pm on Friday 29 January, passengers who have been or transited in the United Arab Emirates, Burundi and Rwanda over the last 10 days will no longer have access to the UK.
