WRITTEN ON STARS, by Gabriel Colombo
My everyday life is filled
by two types of people: those that believe in the stars, crystals, in the
zodiac signs and read the horoscope
daily. The other category consists of those who find everything silly and keep
distance of the divine astral game.
If we pay attention,
we can have get to know a little bit more about how we are, the qualities and flaws
that define us, because each sign has its positive and negative points. The
most advanced people even make astral charts, which require date and time of
their birth.
For those who do not
believe in Astrology, I can understand it:
God is satisfied when humans interact with other humans, in a harmonious
way. Also, everyday life sometimes is reduced to daily surprises that are
independent of our will − whether they’re good or bad. In reality, we have our
monthly bills to be paid, and that is enough concern.
Could it be the stars'
fault? Well, my friend Lucy reads the
Evening Standard horoscope every day, and she says they always get it right.
The horoscope is just like the weather forecast: it has a error margin of 50%!
While dining with this
friend at Restaurante Gaúcho (argentine cuisine), at Piccadilly, she told me
how incredibly good Gemini (her sign) is:
she is recognized as the joy at a party and, as a “double citizen”, she
manages to be versatile. She cannot have relationships with Taurus, because
conflicts arise: she says that Taurus only think about money, whereas for her,
a car ride down the road is enough, feeling the wind on her face, living like a
tourist.
I dropped the cutlery;
the steak was very good and I was very angry. I said:
− Taurus is workaholic
and can become a psychopath if they are not well fed, in addition to being
selfish. But when well-balanced, they are very focused people.
− Neither of the
“twins” (gemini) is your better half – she said.
And looking at my
ring, amber silver, praised it and said:
− I admire you for
being so sincere.
− Yes, I am very
clear, sincere, objective and attentive to details, but I love my fads, my
obsession and my respect for boredom, knowing that God is in control every since
life is divided between two screams: being born and dying.
Why do we seek so much
self-knowledge alone, since the astral journey does not depend only on us? I
decline to hear obvious and literal notions about us; pre-written or dictated
by my friend Lucy. It is difficult to deal with incompatibilities or
difficulties, I know.
That restaurant is one
of the best, though. She looked me in the eye while I rolled my eyes, and she said:
− It's the Uranus
effect and the return of Saturn.
On the street, she
said she liked me a lot, because even though I doubted the letters, I’m spiritualized.
Yes, (well) organized within my mess, clean and responsible.
Truth be told: I am a
real man. I prefer to understand the world through the (slight) pain, it will
lead to self-learning. In this life, certain
situations, there is no therapy. Why did I let two porcelain plates slide to
the floor at Harrods, while trying to choose the ideal gift? Why am I easily attracted
to powerful women? For my full-on laughing fit. For my privacy; my own searches
and my self-analysis, which provides me the truth.
For also knowing how
to say no to someone who is too high or too shallow. But, equally, there’s no
middle ground for me, for my critical sense and my self-criticism. Ah, how many
flaws! Bloody ultra Virgo me.
