Marston's pubs damaged by being in suburban or community environments and few in city centres
New three-tier rules enter into force in towns and cities across England knocking down jobs
Marston's said that a significant number of workers on leave are at risk, with more layoffs probably before the end of the year. The Company blamed the new blockade restrictions on cuts - with many bars forced to close in high-risk areas like Liverpool.
The pub and brewery group said they have 21 sites in Scotland, of which eight are currently closed, and 18 in the Liverpool Tier 3 area, although most serve food and remain open.
Executive President Ralph Findlay said it had been a "test year" for the companies, but added that trade had increased in the "suburban" areas.
However, he warned of the inevitable redundancies as the UK moves towards new restrictions on coronavirus - which include mandatory closures for alcoholic beverages in level three blockades.
