Dame Sharon White: unveiling her strategy for finding new flows
It seems that John Lewis will not be converted into villas or moved to garden centres
Chairman Dame Sharon White said John Lewis is expanding its click and collect service, although she has advocated the role of shops so that customers can feel the furniture and try on their clothes before buying.
The partnership with Waitrose has been a bright spot in a gloomy scenario at the team-owned retailer, but although sales have soared, the grocery owner has had to apply some permanent closures to deal with the extra costs brought in by COVID-19.
The future of John Lewis and Waitrose will not be exclusively in retail, said Dame Sharon White as she prepares to unveil a strategy for the group.
Dame Sharon, president of the John Lewis Partnership, said yesterday that while it was premature to sound the death penalty in the streets, the employee-owned company needed to find "some balanced sources of profit.
