Pfizer hopes to become the first US pharmacist to announce successful data from advanced vaccine testing for Covid-19

Currently, there are 12 vaccines in large-scale, advanced-stage clinical trials around the world, including those of the US companies Novavax, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna Therapeutics and Pfizer

Pfizer hopes to become the first US pharmacist to announce successful data from advanced vaccine testing for Covid-19, ahead of its Modern rival. Pfizer and BioNTech launched their Phase 3 trials with 44,000 volunteers in late July. 

The independent committee is expected to make its first review of vaccine performance after 32 clinical trial participants are infected with the coronavirus.

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said the company could release data on whether or not the vaccine works by this month, but the company said in a presentation that the independent data monitoring committee, which will determine whether or not the tests have been successful, has not yet conducted a preliminary efficacy analysis.
