More tests for a safe Christmas

Health Secretary Matt Hancock, who announced an investment of £500 million in a mass saliva testing scheme on site, said it was the "best chance" to end social withdrawal. When asked how to end social withdrawal, Mr Hancock said on BBC Radio 4 this morning: 'I hope that if this mass testing scheme comes to an end, if the new technologies we are working so hard on work, or if we can get a vaccine in from time to time - which we cannot rule out - I hope we can have the happy and loving Christmas that people want. 'In an attempt to speed up testing, the Department of Health announced today that it is opening a new laboratory in Loughborough, which will be able to process 50,000 tests per day.
