New protest against Lukashenko

Protesters were trying to repeat last Sunday, August 16, when more than 100,000 people demonstrated in Minsk to denounce the August 9 vote, which they consider fraudulent, as well as the brutal repression of the demonstrations. The demonstrations against his re-election happened again this Sunday (23).
According to the organizers, more than 100,000 people are gathered against the president in Independence Square. Protestants shout for "freedom!" and "Lukashenko [arrested] in the car!". They contest the outcome of the plea that brought Lukashenko back to office.
Lukashenko's harsh threats have not intimidated the Belarusian population. Hundreds of thousands of people marched on the streets of Minsk and other cities in the country this Sunday, conquering fear, to demand the resignation of the leader and the repetition of the elections.
The rain and the military scattered along the avenues gave the city of Minsk a sinister look, but did not discourage the population. Wrapped in the traditional Belarusian flag - white with a red band, used before the Russian Revolution and after the fall of the USSR - which became a symbol of the opposition, carrying posters against the Belarusian leader, the population demanded that the regime leave power. "Get out!", "We believe, we can, we will win!", "Lukashenko in the police truck", they shouted.
