Navalny was poisoned by pesticide
German doctors who treated Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny said yesterday that he was poisoned with a substance found in pesticides and nerve agents.
Lasting damage, especially to his nervous system, could not be excluded, they said. The announcement generated accusations of cover-up because Russian doctors and authorities denied that he had been poisoned.
Charité hospital in Berlin said the clinical findings indicated "poisoning by a substance in the cholinesterase inhibitor group. He added: "The specific substance involved remains unknown and a new series of comprehensive tests has been initiated. The effect of the poison - i.e. cholinesterase inhibition on the body - has been confirmed by several tests in independent laboratories. ”
