American newspaper recalls that Bolsonaro has called the pandemic a "little flu", as well as often encouraging crowds, promoting a "false sense of security" among his supporters






The NY Times also points to the danger of the use of drugs without scientific evidence that have been used by some patients in Brazil as preventive treatment for the disease.

It cites the so-called "Covid kit", which includes ivermectin and azithromycin, defended by Bolsonaro as a strategy to combat the coronavirus.

However, the newspaper warns, "leading medical experts in Brazil, the United States and Europe have said that these drugs are not effective in treating covid-19 and some can have serious side effects, including kidney failure."
