Netflix has exceeded market expectations by reaching over 200 million subscribers in the midst of the pandemic. The number was reached with 8.5 million subscriptions during the fourth quarter of 2020.
The most recent quarter was no exception, thanks to the 4th season of "The Crown" and the success of new productions such as "The Queen's Gambit" and "Bridgerton".
Netflix said that the last two series were among the most watched titles in its history.
Netflix released The Queen's Gambit on 23 October 2020. After four weeks, it became Netflix's most watched mini-series script.
It received critical acclaim, with praise going to Taylor-Joy's performance as well as cinematography and production values. It also received a positive response from the chess community and is said to have increased public interest in the game.
