Scotland and Northern Ireland want referenda on the division of Great Britain

Brexit over Brexit ?

The UK is facing a constitutional crisis that will affect the Union as new polls show that the majority of voters in Scotland and Northern Ireland want referendums on the division of Britain.

A four-country survey commissioned by The Times, based on separate surveys in Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales, also found that the sense of British identity that once united the country is disintegrating.

And in another significant move, the Scottish National Party (SNP) has announced that it is prepared to call its own wildcat referendum if Boris Johnson refuses to grant one - a move that puts the two governments on a constitutional collision course.
