The EU's chief negotiator told MEPs yesterday that the time had come "when decisions have to be taken. . in the few crucial hours remaining "to conclude the trade, fisheries and security negotiations at Brexit this weekend.

Boris Johnson rejected an ultimatum from Michel Barnier which gave him only a few hours to accept a demand that would allow Brussels to impose trade tariffs on Britain if access to fishing were cut




The Prime Minister insisted that Barnier needed to come to the table with concessions if the EU was to avoid an agreement. "Our door is open, we will keep talking, but I must say that things look difficult," he said.
