Any suitcase carried free of charge must fit under the front seat in accordance with the new Easyjet rules

The end of bags off the bill: Easyjet will charge passengers at least £8 to bring large bags into the cabin under strict rules that will speed up the boarding process

The low-cost airline said the free hand luggage allocation was falling in half due to the lack of space to store all bags in the overhead cabinets

Under the new rules, any suitcase carried free of charge must fit under the front seat - preventing passengers from carrying a suitcase with wheels. The size limit will be 45 x 36 x 20 cm, or about 32 litres.

Travellers wishing to carry larger luggage will have to pay at least £7.99 to reserve premium seats .
