Supermarkets, although open, are obliged to follow strict guidelines

What are the largest supermarkets in the UK doing to keep Covid safe?

Tesco

The company will be "handing out sanitized umbrellas in the larger shops" for those who need to wait in lines outside.

Asda

Asda asks all of its customers to stay two meters away from each other, to handle only the products they want to buy and to pay with card or mobile application whenever possible.

The company's shopping baskets will also have a Biomaster X protective coating (a protective layer with an anti-microbial surface to help limit the spread of coronavirus) on the handles.

Waitrose

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the first working hours of Waitrose will be prioritised for elderly and vulnerable buyers. Some working hours may be slightly altered during the blockade.

Sainsbury´s

There is a telephone ordering service and Sainsbury's says it has "five times the number of colleagues available to help with that".
