If no agreement is reached, Irish sausages and German sausages could disappear from British supermarket shelves early next year

EU regulations state that prepared raw meat products cannot be imported into the block unless they are frozen at minus 18C - Northern Ireland will maintain EU food safety rules to avoid a hard border

The UK and EU are fighting over bratwurst, hamburgers and other meat products as a possible trade ban approaches the end of the Brexit transition period

Britain will be treated as a non-EU country after the end of this year, in accordance with the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement, but Northern Ireland will maintain EU food safety rules to avoid a hard border with the Republic of Ireland.

Tens of millions of pounds of meat will be threatened and supply chains interrupted if an agreement is not reached to allow fresh or chilled meat products to travel from Britain to Northern Ireland.
