Huffpost is an American news and commentary platform with a liberal trend and was the first site to win a Pulitzer Prize

Buzzfeed is acquiring Huffpost in a union set up to stimulate the growth of struggling digital publishers

The deal with all the shares will leave the US cable TV group Verizon, owner of Huffpost, with a minority stake in Buzzfeed. They will distribute content among themselves and seek an online advertising alliance.
Verizon will make an investment in Buzzfeed, which suffered a drop in advertising during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jonah Peretti, founder of Buzzfeed, will lead the expanded company. The 46-year-old helped establish Huffpost with Arianna Huffington in 2005 before founding Buzzfeed the following year.

The site gained fame by publishing viral content before being acclaimed for its investigative reporting.
