Roger Taylor and the anomalous algorithms

Roger Taylor, president of Ofqual, launched a defence to the full force of the body's role in the exam fiasco during a presentation before parliamentarians. He told the education committee that the body advised the government not to cancel this summer's tests because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Ofqual suggested to Secretary of Education Gavin Williamson that they be kept "socially distanced" due to OVID-19, Mr. Taylor added.
The Secretary of Education resisted resignations due to the dispute, but told Sky News last month that he is "incredibly saddened by the anguish" caused to the students.
When the results were released, it was revealed that almost 40% of A-level scores were downgraded in England. The system also appeared to benefit public schools, which saw almost double the number of year-on-year increases in top marks compared to statewide ones.
