TikTok partners with UnitedMasters
TikTok has become a platform for music viralisation. The company ByteDance, owner of the Chinese social network, announced that the viral music shared within the platform will be made available in Spotify and Apple Music, without going through the big record labels. The agreement was made in partnership with UnitedMasters and the initiative will directly benefit independent artists who post their compositions on TikTok.
In practical terms of use, an artist posts his music on TikTok to be used in those viral videos of the social network. The user who likes the music usually can't find it on the streaming platforms because the author is an independent artist. With the partnership, it's easier to send to Spotify and to Apple Music without needing a label for that and, of break, have access to revenue.
