The Rose's Speech
The 2nd day of the Republican National Convention was marked by the speech of the first lady of the United States, Melania Trump. This Tuesday (Aug.25, 2020), at the White House Rose Garden, she said that the President Donald Trump "will not rest until he has done everything he can to take care of everyone".
The president's wife referred to the crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic. For the first lady, this period will be remembered for Trump's good driving in front of the largest public health problem in over 100 years.
"It is in times like these that we will look back and tell our grandchildren that by means of kindness and compassion, strength and determination, we were able to restore the promise of our future", he declared.
Melania also thanked the front line professionals in the fight against the coronavirus, at a time that she called "strange and frightening. And about the antiracist protests, Melania asked the American population not to take attitudes based on a person's skin color. However, she criticized the episodes
of violence and store lootings in the midst of the demonstrations.
Melania had another chance to impress during her husband's campaign for the country's presidency, because in the 2016 election, the former Slovenian model was accused of plagiarizing entire passages of Michelle Obama's speech eight years earlier in her message.
