Russia leads the race for vaccine

.The vaccine developed by Russia against the new coronavirus may go into large production for the population up to one month after the launch of the third phase of research. The immunization was tested in animals before being applied in humans. 

In an interview with the state news agency TASS, Alexander Gintsburg, director of the agency that develops the substance at the Russian Ministry of Health, said that the production of the vaccine will be done in parallel with the studies, but that it will take that time for the production to reach distribution levels. 

In December, factories are expected to produce four to five million doses of the vaccine. It is based on the adenovirus fused with the crown-shaped protein spike that gives the coronavirus its name. It is through this protein spike that the virus attaches itself to human cells and injects its genetic material to replicate until it causes apoptosis, cell death, and then leaves for the next victim.

If all goes well, Russia will win the new cold war in search of protection against covid-19. Studies will be published later this month. The Russian authorities have said they were able to create an immune response in the volunteers who participated in the second phase of clinical trials.
