Sunday was the last day of an ultimatum for Lukashenko to resign

Again? Or always?

This Sunday, a crowd spread across the capitalscreaming "strike", waving red and white opposition flags

Tens of thousands of people marched in Minsk and other cities in Belarus on Sunday (25), pressuring the President of the country, Alexander Lukashenko, to leave the office.

This Sunday is the last day of an ultimatum for Lukashenko to resign. If not, the opposition will hold a general strike on Monday (26).

The ultimatum was issued by the main Belarusian opposition figure, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, currently in exile in Lithuania, who accuses Lukashenko of election fraud.

During the demonstration, 12 underground stations were closed and mobile Internet services in Minsk were interrupted. In addition, two journalists were arrested before the protest, a local journalists' association told Reuters.
